- Check documents — digital copies too
- Book airport transfer before you fly
- Sort internet (roaming or eSIM)
- Leave space for unplanned moments
Your holiday starts before you reach your destination.
A few simple steps before you leave can make the trip much easier — from the first moment at the airport to the moment you walk back through your front door.
In GoFleet Travel Tips we gathered 10 small moves worth doing before you lock the door.
1. Check your travel documents
Passport or ID, tickets, bookings and any other essentials should be easy to reach. Keep important documents digitally on your phone too, so you can find them fast when you need them.
2. Do not leave your airport transfer to the last minute
How will you get from the airport to the hotel? Will you need a taxi, a private transfer, or a rental car? In popular destinations and high season, decide how you will move before you fly.
3. Check the hotel and the area
Liking a hotel is not enough. See where it sits, how close it is to the places you want to visit, and what transport options are around it. A different neighbourhood can change your daily trip experience.
4. Make sure you will have internet
Do not wait until you land to think about it. If you are travelling abroad, check roaming — or see whether an eSIM works better. Internet means maps, messages, bookings, tickets and answers when you need them.
5. Download the maps you may need
It helps to have core maps available even offline. If you will drive or visit areas with weak coverage, a little prep can save a lot of hassle.
6. Do not fill every hour of the trip
It is tempting to try to see and do everything. A good trip does not have to be a race. Leave space for a beach you find by chance, a coffee in a square, or a walk with no plan. Sometimes that is where the best moments live.
7. Book what you really do not want to miss
A popular activity, a day trip, a boat tour or a limited-seat experience can sell out fast. If something is central to your holiday, plan it early.
8. Check your luggage
Before you close the suitcase, think about what you will actually use. Comfortable shoes, a charger, a power bank, medication you need, sunglasses and a small toiletry kit often matter more than the “just in case” item you never touch.
9. Charge your devices
Phone, smartwatch, headphones, power bank — charge them before you leave. And if you are travelling abroad, check whether you need a different plug adapter.
10. Keep your key trip details in one place
Booking references, flight, hotel, transfer, rental car and activities. The easier it is to find them, the less time you lose digging through emails and messages.
The best travel tip?
Do not try to predict everything.
Organise what needs organising — and leave room for the unexpected. A great trip is not the one that follows the schedule perfectly. It is the one you remember with a smile.
