Industrial museum · tickets · Vlychada, Santorini
On the beach of Vlychada in Santorini, with its impressive volcanic rock formations, the Tomato Industrial Museum “D. Nomikos” — with its distinctive chimney dominating the lunar landscape — tells stories about the Nomikos family business history, the island, and its people.
The old D. Nomikos tomato factory in Vlychada was transformed in 2014 into a modern industrial museum. Visitors follow the cultivation, processing and production of Santorini’s small-fruited tomato — a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) product since 2006.
The exhibition includes processing machines from 1890, old factory manuscripts, tools, early labels, and audiovisual stories of people who worked in the factory. Your visit includes an audio tour in five languages, a short film with former workers’ stories, a tasting of tomato paste, and a souvenir can you seal yourself on an old sealing machine.
